This is a site I have intended to visit for the past few years but have only managed to get there last weekend. Situated on the East coast of Scotland just a few miles from North Berwick, on the outskirts of the small village of Dirleton. The beach, with rock pools and views of the island of Frida and its lighthouse, is only a ten minute walk from the site entrance.
The site itself is divided into sections, some hardstanding, some grass. The sections are separated by either grassy banks or hedges, bushes and small trees. The small area we were pitched in only contained 7 pitches, all well spaced out, arranged in a semi circle with hedges and bushes at the back of the vans. Looking out of the window you could easily believe these were the only pitches on the site.
Toilet and shower block were heated and clean,as you would expect from a Club site.
Nearby for a visit is the Museum of Flight at East Fortune, about ten minutes drive from the site, and the Scottish Seabird Centre at North Berwick. Edinburgh is approx. 30 minutes drive away. There are plenty of golf courses nearby for any enthusiasts (waste of a good walk!).
I would definitely return and recommend this site.

We were ay Yellowcraig last week. I was happy with the site. It was only our second trip out with our caravan and we managed quite well. Got a pitch right next to the toilet block and opposite the play area so we could keep an eye on our girls whilst they played. I was quite pleased that it wasn't too noisy considering where we were pitched.
Be grateful for some advice though. We're totally new to this and wondered if there is some sort of etiquette we've missed. A lady stopped to say hello when the OH was putting up the awning. We had a good chat. Her OH then said hello, offered us some hardstanding pegs (we only had grass ones) and then for the rest of the week they never spoke to us, apart from a grunt when we said hello. Is there rules you have to follow - should we have invited them in for a cuppa or a beer? Any idea what we did wrong. Any hints or tips would be extremely welcome.

Glad you like Yellowcraig too.
We try and go every year, my excuse is it's the dog's holiday! She loves the sand dunes and the beach, you would never think an overweight chocolate Lab could run so fast - and we have to drag her out of the sea!
Some good food in the area too - try The Open Arms in Dirleton, if you go early evening they have a 'two courses' special in the bistro for about £12 - and their restaurant is excellent (same kitchen/chef). I managed to 'arrange' my work schedule and stop there about 6 weeks ago and it was one of the nicest hotels I have stopped in for a long time.
There is also an excellent butcher in the main street in North Berwick (sorry I can't remember his name) that does award winning sausages - we always bring some home - and beautiful rib eye steaks ! reasonable prices too.
Off to the Alps in June but will be at Yellowcraig later in the year, though I must admit we do try to avoid the Scottish school holidays ! |

This will definately be on my sites list!
We usually use the C&CC site at Barns Ness, (now closed, but new one open just outside Dunbar). I can also vouch for the butchers in North Berwick, their meat is superb, and the steak pies are something else! |

I bet they'll never beat Philp's Steak Pasties at Hayle in Cornwall |
