Just back from Peaklands CP (previously called Jinglers) at Bradley about 4 mile out of Ashbourne.
The site has 34 pitches (24 hardstanding)all with 16amp EHU,the site slopes so levelling is needed at the moment (see pics in the gallery)and the loo block is a portacabin type.In the pics you can see the new block which is nearing completion and will have a zero carbon footprint(they are just awaiting approval from the environment agency)
The owners only took over at the end of last year and have built the toilet block and intend to increase the pitch sizes and to terrace them to make levelling of the van across the axle a thing of the past.About 2 mile away at Hullard Ward are two pubs the Nags Head and the Black Horse the latter does food. The site owner for £1 will take four people to either of these pubs and for a further £1 bring you back (that is not a pound each but for all four)very handy if you want some amber nectar.
Nearby are Carsington Water and Ashbourne and of course the Peak District.

Welcome back, Plotter.  Sounds like you had a good time.  Just looked at the photos.  Do you carry the bricks with you or were they on the site?

The one piece of equipment we don't have yet is any levelling blocks.  We're looking at going to a site in Devon next month and they recommend levelling blocks as the site (they claim) is "gently sloping".  So far, in our 7 times away, we've not had the need for them but I guess there's gonna come a time where I'll wish I had some if I don't do something about it soon.

I think Plots has got the optional hod carrier fitted to his van.  Laughing

The levelling looked at bit precarious Mr P. Would it have withstood some wild caravan shaking???  Wink  Embarassed

It did withstand it,I always take about 200 bricks with me and I use them either for levelling, building a windbreak or if the weather is good I construct a BBQ Cool
Actually it was not as bad as it looks, the trouble was I didnt put the leveller together properly and didny notice unril I had unhitched and not wanting to bother hitching up I wound it up on the Alko side lift jack and then put the leveller together properly but as I had not driven on the leveller wasnt centred by the van so I decided to leave the jack under as well.In the end if I wasnt being a lazy s## it would have been easier just to rehitch.
The leveller you see is/was made by Dixon Bate and is pretty good I have had it for 30 years and most times all it needs is just to pull on to it without needing to wind it up,and yes gary we had a good time as there were five vans of us together for the first time in over two years.
