I know Dawn has already put on a report about this site, but this is our view of it (umm, perhaps I should say I'm speaking for Martin E too, since he's waiting for me to do it!!).
This site is around 9 miles west of Hereford, very easy to get to and with fabulous views of the Welsh Black Mountains. The site itself is immaculately kept and very well run, all the wardens being friendly and helpful. One thing I should mention is that the only mobile phone networks which work on the site and for several miles surrounding it are Vodafone and Orange - no others work at all!! As I'm on T-Mobile, I had a week without my phone - a somewhat disconcerting experience as my phone and I are emotionally attached
There is a large field for dog walks, and numerous 'doggie buckets' spaced at regular intervals all around the park. The site is extremely dog friendly - a fantastic dog bath is provided, with shower attachment and a better hairdryer than there was in the ladies showers!!! The 'human' toilet/shower block is immaculate, cleaned and checked several times a day. The toilet block is quite a trek from the camping field though, they could really do with another block at that end. The dishwashing and laundry facilities are excellent too. There is a large fridge and freezer available for campers' use in the dishwashing room. A large well equipped disabled/mother & baby room is provided. The site is big on recycling, with bins provided for bottles, cans, plastics and papers.
There is a farm shop on site, selling local meat, eggs and dairy products, some drink and chocolates, etc. Really nice goodies, but quite expensive. There is also a bar and restaurant - we tried to book for Sunday lunch, only to be told that it was shut for a private function!! (sod's law ) And it is also shut on Mon/Tues, if I remember rightly.
The site itself is largely given over to statics, mostly privately owned but a few for holiday hire. They are all extremely well maintained, really nice looking actually. You can walk round them quite freely.
The touring area is divided into three - the largest area containing about 25 hardstanding pitches, all a good size, with grassy areas and some shrubs between the pitches, which are fully serviced. There is a smaller area just behind with about 7 or 8 pitches. A short walk away is a grassed enclosure for tents or caravans, with hook ups.
The leisure facilities on the site are amazing - a large 9 hole pitch and putt (Steve, Martin and occasionally Ian used it every day), a smaller putting green, tennis and badminton courts, table tennis, petanque. It's all free to use, equipment can be hired from reception if you haven't got your own. The River Dore runs all through the site, which you can fish in with a licence. However, the fish are small brown trout which have to be put back, so whether it's worth it depends on personal choice I suppose. There is a large well equipped children's play area, and a football field.
The site is full of wildlife - we saw nuthatches, tree creepers, song thrushes, woodpeckers, numerous tits and finches, and buzzards. There were lots of really pretty damsel flies and dragon flies too. Oh, and lots of bats in the evenings (shut up Martin!!)
Would we go back? YES, it's lovely!
We had an absolutely wonderful week, the weather was brilliant, hot (well, actually bloody hot!!!) virtually every day (sorry Dawn ). Martin, Mandy and Ian were fabulous company and helped to make it one of our best ever holidays. And meeting Steve and Carole was a bonus, they really are a lovely couple. |

The bridge shown was my favourite spot - at least until Martin kept coming along and jumping up and down on the bridge to make it sway!! |

First of all I'm pleased you enjoyed your stay in Gods country Sooze, see what I meant about the sun, He certainly looks after the righteous in His land
Secondly, don't give the Welsh all the hills, some of the Black Mountains are in Herefordshire All up around there, Michaelchurch Escley, Longtown, Craswall etc. were part of our patch on the Ambulance Service. If people made a 999 call they would expect to wait 30 minutes for an ambulance but never moaned. Those in Hereford moaned if you wren't on scene within two minutes
The Black Mountains stretch a good way, down to Abergavenny.
Thirdly the railway sign is wrong, could you please write to them and correct it
A part of the line was left intact until around 1964 for the ammo dump at Ewyas Harold. In the hillside there are tunnels where it was stored. The local SAS use this area now as a training ground, you might have seen some old airliners through the trees which they practice storming. I know the line was still active after that date because we use to take wagons of ammo to be stored there when I was a Fireman on the railway at Hereford.
Just to rub it in the sun is still shining Sooze, another lovely day for us angelic Herefordians
Where did you do your shopping, theres a Tesco and Asda on the Peterchurch side of Hereford. |

| Nice review of the site Sue and thanks for the photo of the sign. I take it the last photo is of the shower - do you step over the 'wall' to get in? |

That's right Martin - it's easier if you have four legs, a tail and a furry coat though, hehehe................OK, so I forgot to put on the caption stating that it was the dog shower!!
Thanks Gail - we certainly did enjoy it.
LB - I stand corrected re the Black Mountains, I didn't know that parts were in Herefordshire, I was merely repeating what someone on the campsite told me (shows you should never believe what people tell you ). |

It sounds great Sue ,what were the prices for pitches like?
Glad to hear that you emotionally attached to your phone and not physically when on vibrate
I am interested in how you fish in the River Dore with a licence and not a rod and are the doggie buckets for storing the dogs?
Seriously it sounds and looks super and glad you had a good time at least you were towing a legal weight van unlike some,or were you? |

Plotter, pitch price for this time of year was £17 p.n. for 2 adults on a full service pitch, plus £2 p.n. for an awning.
Diane, link is www.bestparks.co.uk/PostonMillTouring.htm
You'll love it at Oakchurch Garden Centre and Farm Shop, we went there on Thursday, it's brilliant! Very big, wonderful food, lovely garden centre, lots of gifts and goodies, coffee shop. Take lots of money, you'll need it, you could spend a fortune in there |

Sooze if it was strawberries you were after you should have gone to http://www.courtfarmleisure.co.uk/
We went last weekend and they were lovely, didn't even have to bend over to pick them, they are grown on trestles at waste height. Later in the season you have to stoop though. I pigged out on strawberries when picking them and didn't fancy any when we got home
Cherries should be ready soon, something else I pig out on when picking.
The farm is in a lovely quiet setting away from the main road and if the weather is nice it's a joy to be picking. There are lots of other fruits or vegetables you can pick or buy ready picked depending on the time of year. Missus has to go when the raspberries are ready.
I prefer Tillington because it's not on a main road hence it's quieter so more chance of getting nice fruit. |

An excellent report Sue, much better than mine
I agree with everything you said about the site and we would definitely go back again RAIN or SHINE
We had a meal in the bar on the Friday night before we came home and it was very nice in there too, the food was good and the people who owned it were very friendly.
