Nice clean site with all facilities. Traffic noise from the busy road close to the site, the A44.
Just a short walk to Bladon church where you can see Churchills grave.
Crap dogwalk, infact the first time we used it both of us trod in dog dumps It leads to a gate which takes you to the village and church. It's very boggy and they had put straw down when we were there. With the straw and fallen leaves it made it easier for the idle, anti-social b*"%@%&'s to just scrape leaves over their dogs dumps.
On arrival another couple were checking in and on the counter was a sign asking people to clear up after dogs and those who don't will be evicted.
This other couple found a pitch and were just starting to set up as we backed onto our pitch. What did they do? Open their tailgate and let two Westies wander off while they set up. I saw one of them dumping by the entrance to the dog walk so reported it to the warden
Sorry I have no photos of the actual site so I have scanned some of my Then & Now pics of the area. I just hope they show o.k.
Grade
Let down by the poor dog walk and traffic noise.
Grade Only a fair because of the noise and crappy dog walk. |

Hi LB
Thanks for the info on this site. We had booked to go there but have since cancelled. We need a good dog walking area (preferably clean!) an not too much traffic noise!!! Obviously, this is not a site for us. We have booked that period at Longleat instead.

You're welcome Ann. As a dog owner it's not a site I will be going back to. The actual walk to the gate is maybe 150 yards from memory but is nothing more than a dumping ground. It's not the wardens fault, they must be as frustrated as those who don't have a dog and those who clean up. Recently I saw an elderly lady who was alone in a camper van with the exception of two collies. She walked them holding both leads in one hand and a walking stick in the other. She also was doubled up with spondylosis of the spine. There was no way she could clean up after her dogs but what is the answer, do we deprive her of touring with the companionship of her two dogs because she cannot clean up? It's a hard thing to do to complain over a person in her predicament |
