I felt I had to give this little CL a thumbs up, even though I know the majority of you will probably never be at it!
Its in a rural part of County Tyrone in Northern Ireland. Cookstown is a historic market town, and Corkhill House is about 5 miles out of the town.
The CL is on a working family run farm. On arrival, the owner came out to greet us and allowed us our choice of pitching area. He was very friendly, telling us about the area, his farm and introducing us to the other family who were staying on the CL. When I offered to pay him he said there's no rush.
The views from our pitch were of beautiful green countryside, plenty of fresh air, no road noise.
There was EHU and a brand new bathroom with shower and toilet.
The weather unfortunately was dreadful, with torrential rain on our second day. When we were packing up to leave, the owners son (a man in his 30s) came and gave my husband a hand so I could "get in out of the rain".
When I went to pay the owner I was brought in to the family living room and treated like one of the family, even being offered a cup of tea.
This CL felt so welcoming and friendly compared to the commercial sites we have stayed at. And all for only £6 a night! I could get used to the CL way of touring! Emmy x |

Hi,
A CL is a certified location which is a small 5 van site for the use of caravan club members only. In Northern Ireland we have 11 CL which cost around £9 a night with ehu (electric hook up)

CL means Certified Location. These are privately owned 5 van sites, usually in lovely places in the depth of the countryside (but not always ) which are run by the Caravan Club. The Caravan and Camping club 5 van sites are known as Certified Sites (CS). Some CL's/CS's are very basic with just a tap for fresh water and waste/sewage disposal, whereas others may have toilets and showers. Generally the charge per night will be between £8 to £10 per unit. You have to be a member of the Caravan Club or Camping and Caravan Club to use the sites.

Hehehe, It's amazing how many posts I see where people call them "certified" locations. Does that mean only certified people go to these locations?
The correct term is Certificated Locations.
