Hi,
We have just returned from a weeks holiday in Lucksall Caravan Park and it was brilliant, the site deserves the 5* rating that it has.
Upon arrival we checked in and the helpful person on reception showed us our pitch on a clear site map and then told us that we could go and pay once we have set up and had a cuppa!
We then went back to the outfit and found our LARGE hardstanding pitch, where there was someone waiting for us, the pitch was opposite the toilet block and although large it was difficult to get into because of the lovely flower bank, so the man kindly un hitched the van and helped us push it into the pitch.
The pitch had room for the caravan, awning and car.
The toilets were very clean although I wouldnt say there were enough.
The staff were also reasonable - whilst away my Dad was rushed into hospital and if my brother wasn't able to get there we would have to have cut our hols short and they were happy to come to an arrangement.
Hereford was a lovely town - a trip to the cathedral and a walk along the river is highly recommended !
All in all a great site and I will be visiting again.

Sorry to hear about your dad Ian, hope all worked out OK with him.
Sounds like you had a good time and nice campsite as well....makes a big difference when staff go out there way to help you. |

Hi all, thank you for your replies, I am glad the pics appear (not very good at things like that)!
Unfortunately my Dad isn't to well and if he continues to refuse treatment we are going to have to prepare ourselves.
Lucksall was a truly wonderful site, unfortunately we didnt find time to hire one of the canoes on the river, next time!
Just a point but if anyone is thinking of booking it is worth booking a river pitch or hardstanding as the pitches in the other field are surrounded by tents which may put some off.

Heh! heh! heh!
Glad you liked it Ian, I always get a bit worried when recommending a site because we all don't like the same but thankfully everyone I know off both forums who have been are pleased with it.
The Oct/Nov offer of £55 for 7 nights with EHU takes some beating.
Hope your father is soon on the mend. My MIL is now 6 stone and only having the odd protein drink and sadly for a 92 year old it's impossible to mend anything so it's only a matter of time now.
We are going to look at getting her into respite care so we can go away in October. My wife needs some time away, the weights dropping off her from stress and all the running about. Our son gets married Saturday which is adding to it |

I live on the Mordiford side of Hereford Ian, only about 5 minutes in the car. Weobley is the village you meant but wobley after leaving the Red Lion
I bet you're pleased not to be at Lucksall this past week with the constant rain.
The pic, although not very clear, was Lucksall in July 2007 |

Hi LB,
Whilst onsite we made friends with the people in the van behind us which was a seasonal, they showed us pics of it there last year and it was upto the floor of the van. And it all happened in a matter of minutes.
There was also a pic of people in canoes removing items from there awning (fridges and tv's), I must admit I have never seen so much stuff in awnings. There was one van on the front which was obviously a seasonal and inside the awning they had a full tv set a three piece suite and even a full size wardrobe! AND to top it off, a crystal light hanging from the awning roof, I wonder what would happen in a gale :S?

We were there for 2 months until they closed at the end of November and we moved then to a CL a couple of miles away for the next month.
While there the seasonals were arriving to remove their belongings and to take the awnings down and like you I couldn't believe it. One had a washing machine or tumble dryer
Two of the seasonals were Dutch caravans, a long way to come for the weekend
The footpath by the old Wye bridge, where you took your pic, is now under water but the flood defences is holding the worse back. If I get chance I will take some pics tomorrow, that's if it's still up and my drink addled head is clear. The Wye is a flash river, it rises very fast but thankfully goes down just as fast |

| Ian - we have visited the site twice this year and I fully agree with you regarding the quality of site and the staff working there. On both occassions we had good weather and we had the same pitch- pitch 4 on the river bank - very calm and relaxing sitting with glass of whisky in hand and watching the wild life on the river. It is a beautiful site in a beautiful part of the UK and we will certainly be going back there as we enjoyed it so much. |

Second best.
I would put it to you that you have obviously been hitting the meth's again Colin and it is affecting your senses.
By the way I have yet to try it but I have heard a couple of guys saying that Lidls own label malt is quite good. Mind you they may have been comparing it to some coconut flavoured bushy concoction.

Hi Jo, Sorry I didn't get anymore pics of it. It was a lovely site though. We went in the summer and it was a bit busy there but most site's are at that time of year. The only downside was the toilets and from the bottom fields it was quite a walk.
