We have just returned from a lovely weekend at Broadway CC site. When we arrived the wardens were very welcoming and let us choose any empty pitch. They also reserved the pitch next to us for friends who were arriving later.
We pitched up, put the legs down went to connect the EHU and it wouldn't lock in the bollard. This may not make sense but those who have visited CC sites will know that to connect to hook up you insert the plug and then turn 1/4 clockwise and it clicks. It wouldn't click and kept turning back. As this was our first time in this van we were concerned that it was the vans fault. We asked the warden for some assistance and he reassured us that it was a problem with the bollard. He couldn't apologise enough and helpt us move to the next pitch.
The site is really spread out with plenty of space, most pitches have low hedges separating them. They are also level. TV reception is poor so you will have to connect up to the site's system which also gives you some digital stations.
The toilet's are spotless and there are plenty so no queues.
On the Friday night it was Broadway's Christmas event which was amazing. The streets were lined with lights and there were horse and carriage rides. All the shops were also open til 9. There was a brass band on the green and hot mulled wine with mince pies.
The site was a flat walk into Broadway village.
Returning to the van after the event it was really cold so we put the heating on full, kettle on for a cuppa and the hotplate for some soup. The power tripped out and it started torrentially raining. I went up to the wardens chalet to ask for yet again more assistance, he didn't grumble and came straight down and sorted the problem. He also politely informed us that we had overloaded the site, oopss!!
Overall a fantastic site with really great wardens! Broadway tower is well worth a visit, pack your boots though as you walk across a field full of sheep deposits to get to it.
Hope this is helpful.

Glad you had a good time Ian, despite the mishaps!! Hope we don't pitch next to you on site somewhere.............. (Just kidding, honest!! ).
We love the Broadway site and Broadway village itself is beautiful. I bet the Christmas event was fabulous.

Thanks Sue, yes it was a lovely place, this was our 2nd visit to the site and being 3 hours from home it is nice for a long weekend. Yes we did have quite a few mishaps, the EHU wouldn't click which we thought was the van but it wasn't, phew for that then the tripping issue, we were not sure how much power things used and this was the first time we have ever managed to trip out a 16 amp site then to top it all off we had a flood in the van, the tap in the washroom had frozen between the van having it's check and us collecting it, once the system was pressurised and the tap turned on it opened up to make a nice little water feature for us the dealer couldn't have been fairer though and a complete new tap was in the post within minutes.
Yes Broway's christmas event was brilliant. There are some lovely shops there as well, quite pricey though, bread which is normally £1.05 here was nearly £3 in their supermarket.
I also forgot to mention in the review that there are 2 toilet blocks, the main one is the usual cc type but the second is part of the old railway building which was really interesting.
Thanks

Ian I am amusing from your post that the hot plate was the electric ring in the van. Plus electric kettle and possibly 2 kw electric heating.
Occasional you do have to switch on the gas
Mind you if this was your experience it makes you wonder about this new explore all electric van

Hi Jo-anne, Yes I know we have never tripped 16amp before, what the warden did say though was that because it was so cold and dark so early the site was drawing a huge amount therefore decreasing the 16amp allowance slightly. Lesson learnt for the future, only use the low wattage kettle not the 2kw, don't put it on the same time as the heater on full and the awning heater.
Yes Broadway is lovely. We first discovered it last year, we went to Moreton in the Marsh CC site but on the second day of the holiday I had an accident on site and suffered broken ribs. After the accident I didn't feel like staying on in the site so we decided to move on to Broadway, we were planning on visiting there anyway. My wife and son had to pack the full awning away and even hitch the van up and my wife had to tow for the first time, I was in so much pain I couldn't even stand up for long. No one on the site offered to help us. Upon arrival at Broadway the wardens were really helpful and when we pitched up we started talking to the people next door who virtually set the whole van up for us including the awning. This was so kind and we are now best friends with them and meet at Broadway every year.
We feel the site is less hemmed in than moreton in the marsh and the pitches also seem much bigger.

Yes it was on last Friday we thoroughly enjoyed it. Hot mulled wine and the brass band were brilliant.
The even had horse and carriage rides through Broadway and it was decorated with christmas ligths.
I took some pics of it but you can't really see anything as it was dark.
The only problem with Broadway site is that it fills up quick so you have to book in advanced.

Did you find the 'crown & trumpet' pub. Real ale, log fires, village characters and folk music on a saturdat night. I have fallen out of there a few times, the gentle slope back to the site makes it an easy journey on the 'beer scooter'.
