This is a lovely site set midway between the north and south coast of Devon, just 4 miles from the Cornwall border and only 5/6 miles south of the main A30 off the A386 Towards Tavistock, it has stunning views of the High Tors of Dartmoor.

We spent from Friday evening to Monday morning on site and realy enjoyed the short break.

The site is easy to find but DO NOT use sat nav, use the directions from the sites website. upon arriving at the site you are greeted by one of the wardens and booked in at reception, the warden then takes you to your pitch and even though very busy on the Friday evening we had a choice of pitch 1 being shaded and one in a sunny location. Once chosen we were taken to the pitch and given information about the water point and electric bollard to use.

The site is set out in 3 fields the main field was for caravans and motorhomes as was one of the other fields and the 3rd field was the tent field but had caravans to the bottom of the field. The pitches in the main field were flat and level, the top field was sloped but the views of the moors from there where the tents were were to die for.

The facility block can only be described as spotless I visited at different times of the day and could not fault them. There was a mop and bucket for the showers and toilet brush in each loo, both had signs to ask you to use to keep the area as you would expect to find it. the mop and bucket was clean and you could smell the disinfectant (unlike most of the mops you get asked to use)

The shop had basic rations which is a good thing as the village of Lydford has no shop.

Lydford gorge is a great morning or afternoon out with a 3 1/2 mile walk through woodland down to a 90ft waterfall and around to more spectacular areas on the way back . It is an energetic walk and not for the faint hearted but well worth the £5.80 enrance fee. (free to national trust members)

This site is a definate revisit for us and is proberbly one of the best sites we have staid at in over 10 years of touring. The wardens are not only hard working and keep a lovely site they are so friendly as well always having time to pass the time of day or give directions to where you want to go.
